Description: Fern Bisel Peat (1893-1971) was a prolific illustrator of children's books and magazines as well as artistic designer for toy companies such as Ohio Art in the 1930-40s. This vintage book #2409 titled "The Picture and Rhyme Book" is an original edition published by Saalfield Publishing Company in 1941. It is a great example of Fern Bisel Peat's detailed pictures of children in various activities, enjoyable by children of all ages. It is a large book measuring about 12-3/4 inches tall and 9-3/4 inches wide. The "cloth-like" pages are textured and heavier than typical book pages and contain 14 short poems with full page illustrations - an example of one page is shown in the photos. Each page is imprinted with Fern Bisel Peat's signature. The front cover page has a beautiful illustration and printed info "2409 The Picture and Rhyme Book Copyright MCMXLI by the Saalfield Pub Co Akron, Ohio Made in the United States of America Registered at Stationers Hall 2409 Cloth-like". The back cover has the same illustration. It is in good vintage condition for a children's book over 80 years old - there is some bending to the upper and lower right corners of the cover and pages as shown in the photos, as well as some discoloration to the front and back covers as shown in the photos.
