Description: This is an original, 8" x 10" color still, issued to the movie theater in 1956, for the classic John Wayne western "The Searchers." This is color still #2, from a set of 12 stills issued to the theaters for display during the showing of the film. Any of the 12 color stills from this film are considered fairly rare and very collectible. Note: The color stills for this classic western were printed in an unusual way. It appears they wanted to protect the stills, so they were created with a thin plastic coating on the front. This did help protect the still from damage by making it slightly thicker and more resistant to staining. On the down side, we have seen some of the stills where the plastic coating is separating from the still (most likely due to how the still was stored). All of the color stills for this film were created in this manner. This original 1956 color still #2 is in very nice condition with some minor edge and handling wear, and some minor edge and corners dings and bends. Overall, this color still is in beautiful shape with fantastic images and bright vibrant colors. I would grade this still a 7, on a 1 to 10 scale (with 10 being in mint condition). We have included several photos, so you can see the stills condition for yourself. This still will be shipped flat and secured between heavy cardboard for protection.
