Description: I can find other copies of this book for sale, but all of those are from the 1940s and 1950s. This one is from 1929. I believe this early edition is scarce and hard to find. A good volume for a maritime history collection - also of interest in the area of medical history. Not surprising that in this book they cover the venereal diseases - gonorrhea (clap), syphilis and chancroid. Per the book: "90 per cent of prostitutes are infected". Also: "any 'loose' woman is likely to have a disease". This book came from a retired U.S. Army Colonel. He was an avid collector and historian of guns, knives, bayonets, other military items and beyond. One of his assignments was as an instructor at West Point. Size of this book is 9 1/4" x 6".
