Description: Maker: On the base of this lovely oval open vegetable bowl is the red backstamp number 34 of Theodore Haviland, one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century. This mark was in use between 1904 and around 1925. An impressed "TH" white ware mark number 27 also appears. It was in use between 1894 and 1957. Source: third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston. Design: The dish is beautifully hand painted with pink roses, pale blue flowers, green leaves and gold accents and daubs, in keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous, and so coveted. The pattern is called Schleiger 1240-5. Many of the great Limoges companies produced variations of this classic and hugely popular pattern of delicate pink roses against a pure white background. That means this dish would easily blend into similar services by Haviland or other Limoges makers. Haviland pattern identification disclaimer: Haviland produced between 30,000 and 60,000 china patterns, many with only slight variations, and the identification of this item's pattern is not guaranteed. If you are trying to match a Haviland pattern, please check all the photos in this listing very carefully against your own items to be sure this is the right pattern for you. Condition: The vegetable bowl is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs, scratches, crazing or wear. Size and weight: The dish is 7 1/8 inches wide, about 2 3/4 inches tall and 11 3/4 inches long, measured between the far ends of the handles. It weighs 1 pounds 8 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
