Description: The book offered here is an original mid-19th century book by a physician-author who was well-known at the time for his series of medical textbooks, Thomas S. Lambert. The book is profusely illustrated with 5 colorful lithographic plates as well as many wood engravings. I believe that it is a first edition, having been printed in 1851 with pages of advertisements at the front. The book is stamped by an early owner, H. C. Williams. Williams was apparently a student in a medical class and carried on an extensive pencil-written conversation with another student on a few of the free blank papers at the front and back of the book. He did not, however, write on or markup the pages of text or the illustrations. This book is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions". Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
