This manual has been passed down from revered monks skilled in mystical arts from the past, particularly in the Mekong River region, and is linked to Luang Pu Phra Khru Siri Phutthaworakhun (Yah Tharn Si Chan Thitathammo) of Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province. He was a revered monk, known for his powerful mystical abilities, who was a source of support and protection for the local villagers. Due to his reputation and the belief in his supernatural powers, he was given titles such as “Arahant Luang Pu” and “Arahant Si Chan.” According to the accounts from elders and Luang Pu Sri Chan’s biography, he was a monk of exemplary conduct, often going on pilgrimage to practice Dhamma in forests and mountains. He studied under many renowned teachers, both in Laos and Thailand, for several decades. It is well known that he studied meditation and mystical arts during his stay in Laos, where he resided for 10 years. The manual for creating the Ngung amulet, as recounted by his grandson who served as his attendant, is believed to have been learned from Laos. The grandson also mentioned that one important item Luang Pu always carried in his waistband was a Ngung amulet he received from his teacher. He frequently used it for various purposes, such as soaking it in holy water to exorcise spirits, curing those afflicted by witchcraft, healing the mentally ill, and treating illnesses that modern medicine could not cure. The amulet was believed to have numerous uses. Even when his relatives went to war, they were given the Ngung amulet to carry, and it was said to have provided protection and success in all aspects. There is a well-known story in the local area that in the past, when malevolent spirits were troubling the villagers by possessing people, and when Luang Pu was too busy to attend, he would give them the Ngung amulet to take home. Before they even reached their house, the spirits would flee. Even when the community was disturbed by unseen forces, Luang Pu would have the Ngung amulet buried to bring peace and tranquility. When a village was established, the Ngung amulet would be buried at its center, bringing prosperity and happiness to the people. The Ngung amulet was also used to heal venomous bites by applying it to the affected area. It was used for trade and business, ensuring success. For those without a partner, carrying the Ngung amulet was said to have effects similar to those of the famous love charm of Khun Phaen. The ancient texts describe the Ngung amulet as a spiritual body with powers akin to those of the sacred metals such as Lek Lai Phai Dam or the mercury-based amulets. This aligns with the belief that Luang Pu used the Ngung amulet for a wide range of purposes, from protection and invincibility to enhancing prosperity. The metals used in crafting the Ngung amulet were believed to inherently possess supernatural properties. When combined through the alchemical process, infused with medicinal herbs according to the scriptures, and consecrated through rituals, their power was said to be greatly amplified. The legend of Luang Pu’s Ngung amulet is that of a sacred artifact of immense power that never diminishes. It is infused with the potency of elemental energies, metals, sacred scripts, mantras, and focused intention. The Ngung amulet is not considered a lowly object but is regarded as a high-level science. The process of alchemy, combined with herbal ingredients, sacred incantations, and meditation, brings about the perfect creation of this powerful amulet.
