Rather than using a pre-preg technique (using sheets of carbon pre-impregnated with resin), Time use a liquid moulding process where the epoxy resin is injected into the mould to bond the structure.Their in-house methods allow them to lace Vectran – a more pliable, Kevlar-like fiber, called VibRaser in TIME-speak – into certain sections of the carbon that dampens vibration without compromising the stiffness or strength of the material. This, they say, is the key to the excellent ride quality that their frames achieve.Interwoven Vectran fibers add dampening qualities to the carbon matrix to buffer road vibration from an otherwise ultra-stiff frameset. Special attention to geometry, aero seatmast and downtube, makes the frame and rider aerodynamic and proficient at high speed.
