VersaBar heads with identical geometry as ANSI fixed-pocket bars (lead angle, rake, minimum bore) ensure no program alterations necessary. Just mount and run. Why Choose VersaBar? · Variety of Head/Pocket Styles Available· Head Pockets Heat Treated· RH & LH Mount To Same Shank· Same Head Mounts To Metric Shank· Coolant & Non-Coolant Shanks Available In Various Lengths· Rigid Modular Connection with Single Screw For Fast Head Change· Faster Setups By Preserving Offsets – Change Out Head Instead Of Shank· Less Downtime From Pocket Crash – Change Out Head Instead Of Shank· Factory Retrofit & Repair Service Quality The patented VersaBar system developed by Tool$aver is produced with the same quality you've come to appreciate with our economy fixed-pocket carbide bars. Fixed-pocket and VersaBar are manufactured in our production facility in Dickinson, Texas. VersatilityVersaBar modular heads utilize standard ANSI inserts. Shanks accept RH & LH heads. Metric shanks accept inch heads (we also retrofit metric shanks). Standard shanks are stocked in 5:1 and 8:1 lengths, both coolant and non-coolant fed. Repurposed shanks retrofitted to VersaBar (highly economical) are available in various lengths. Custom heads (with special geometry) available is as little as a week. See the VersaBar Product Supplement here: https://www.toolsaverinc.com/documents/Versabar_Product_Supplement_2020.pdf Extended Pocket Life VersaBar heads are produced from heat treated carbon steel, providing superior performance and longevity. Unfortunately, steel heads brazed to fixed-pocket bars anneal (sacrifice their hardness) during the brazing process. This phenomenon occurs with any fixed-pocket bar, regardless of brand. Brazing involves heating to temperatures of 1200-1500 F then slow cooling to avoid thermal cracking (heat-checking) of the carbide shank (quenching not possible). Slow cooling necessarily draws hardness from the steel head. Soft pockets are problematic as they are prone to early wear and tear. This becomes an operator's worst nightmare. The insert becomes unstable (even when the lock screw is tight) allowing insert shifting which alters cut diameter and chips the insert edge, possibly scrapping a part. Screw threads strip out. Chipping impacts tool life, dimensionality and surface finish. "Loose" pockets lead to catastrophic failure (a snapping of the insert corner). The expensive shank must be replaced. The cost is downtime, plus the cost of the replacement shank. What if a replacement is not readily available? More downtime. VersaBar heads bolt on, so they avoid the brazing process altogether. Heat treated VersaBar heads increase the value of your investment exponentially. When a VersaBar head becomes worn or is crashed, smart operators have their VersaBar backup head on the bench in que, eliminating costly downtime. Your machine is back in production again within a minute or two, the savings of which more than returns your investment in the backup head. And yes, Tool$aver will be happy to repair your worn VersaBar heads and to factory install new couplings on your VersaBar shanks (as they wear) for a fraction of replacement cost. HistoryVersaBar was developed by Tool$aver as a modular upgrade for it's customers crashed fixed-pocket bars with soft pockets. Demand for additional pocket styles and shanks provided the impetus to expand VersaBar to what it is today, with numerous pocket options (insert styles) and shanks available. Over the last decade, Tool$aver has retrofitted literally hundreds of crashed customer owned shanks to VersaBar. Retrofitting remains a significant (and highly economical) feature of the VersaBar program. Send Tool$aver your scrap carbide shanks and we'll be happy to bring them back to life as VersaBar shanks! Then your operators can start using heat treated VersaBar heads. About Tool$averTool$aver is a small family owned business located in Dickinson, Texas (a suburb of Houston) that began in 1978. Our seasoned management team has more than a century of experience in designing and manufacturing all types of indexable tools. We understand how they work which provides us the know-how to fix any crashed (or worn) indexable tool, at a fraction of replacement cost. Our experience in indexable tool manufacturing, combined with our state of the art CNC capabilities, make Tool$aver your one stop shop for carbide shank boring bars on eBay. Tool$aver's unique manufacturing process utilizes both new and repurposed carbide shanks. For example, a worn extended length 3/4” carbide end mill (with short flutes) can be repurposed into a new 3/4” boring bar. A broken boring bar (with qualified shank) can become a stubby boring bar. This concept is exclusive to Tool$aver and makes it possible for us to provide high quality at competitive prices. Our mission is to make it so affordable every shop can go rigid!Best of all, you buy with confidence knowing that every tool we manufacture, re-manufacture (repurpose), or repair is backed by Tool$aver's 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.
