Description: This is a custom 12" figure commemorating one of the best old West tv series that was ever on television, Trackdown starring Robert Culp as Texas Ranger Hoby Gilman. Trackdown ran for over 70 episodes from 1957-1959 on CBS. Trackdown was a spin off from an episode on the anthology series Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theatre. The series takes place in the 1870's after the Civil War. Trackdown told the story of Hoby Gilman and his job as a Texas Ranger in the old West. When the series first started Gilman would travel from town to town tracking down wanted law breakers. Part way through the first season Hoby would settle in Porter, Texas where he would also serve as sheriff. He would occasionally leave town in search of outlaws. Other characters that appeared through the series where Henrietta Porter (played by Ellen Corby) widow of Porter's founder, Norman Leavitt as Ralph, Hoby's deputy, Doc Calhoun played by (Addison Richards), and Tenner Smith (played by Peter Leeds)mysterious ex-gunfighter, who owned the saloon and was a gambler. A unique thing about Trackdown was that it is the only television series that was endorsed by both the state of Texas as well as the Texas Rangers. Many of the stories portrayed on the series were from the files of the Texas Rangers. Robert Culp did a great job as Hoby Gilman and the stories were very realistic, portrayed by believable actors. Trackdown would also spawn another good western called Wanted: Dead or Alive starring Steve McQueen as bounty hunter Josh Randall. Please Note-while this figure does not look exactly like Culp / Gilman there is a bit of a resemblance. Figure designed mainly for display purposes for the wild west fan. This would make a nice addition to any collection. plastic six-gun made by marxman. gunbelt and holster are custom made. sold as is. stand included. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit.
