This little chicken got plucked twice on the same trip in the most humiliating manner. Seems the Central Pacific Train No. 1 which was station bound or Ogden, Utah was well on it’s way., Trouble was, the Truckee, Nevada railway train was scheduled to carry the gold from the Yellow Jacket Mine in Virginia City – and some shadowy culprits had been informed about the time schedule. Soon, the outlaws disguised as fisherman got aboard and skedaddled with most of the gold. But the little train carried on. Sad to say, around another bend, some Army deserters decided to rob the train and they got the little amount of gold the first gang missed. Well, two robberies of the same train was humiliating. Here is the story entitled : DOUBLE ROBBERY OF TRAIN # 1 By the noted western author Rex Smith.
