Promotion was to run through the summer of 1990 but was ended by the end of My 1990 due to malfunctioning mechanisms within the cans. The Coke MagiCan contest of 1990 wasn’t near as bad or damaging to their image as the New Coke fiasco of 1985was, but left a bad taste in people’s mouths, nonetheless. Luckily for Coke though, few people even remember the failed promotion these days.Selling both cans and the merchandising plaque.
