Also a free "floating" display stand. Here is a genuine fossil Tyrannosaurid tooth, either Nanotyrannus or a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex. Either way, it is definitely in the family Tyrannosauridae. It is small but in good condition (photos), measuring about 13.3 mm. using calipers (0.71"). From Lance Creek Formation, Wyoming, from the Cretaceous. A line of serrations are easily visible (better with a loupe, see photos). I wonder if the controversy of Nanotyrannus will be resolved. Many very smart people, including Pete Larson of the Black Hills Institute, say Nanoytyrannus must be a distinct species, based on bone differences, particularly the small front leg bones and claws, with some bones being longer than adult T rex bones. (Dino Hunters Season 1 episode 6). Others disagree, saying they are all T rex. So we will refer to this as a Tyrannosaurid tooth. And a genuine fossil at that.
