Description: Uncommon Small Hand Forged Splitting Maul Or Axe. Measuring 15 5/16" overall, the head is 4 15/16" long (across the center), the edge is 2 7/16" high (straight across), and this weighs 2 lbs 3/4 oz unboxed. There is a + mark at the front of the eye on both sides. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. There is a little patina overall on the head including some dings on the blade area at the back. The striking end had some mushrooming removed at some point and is good to go. The eye looks to be good with no cracks that I can see. The handle is older. That has some dings and scorch marks, but it's solid, and the head is on tight. This is one of those tools that sure does not show up very often. A good hand forged collectible for sure!
