Between the Strokes of Night, Charles Sheffield, Baen Books 1985 1st SC Ed / Prt This is a first softcover edition, third printing of Between the Strokes of Night by Charles Sheffield. This book is in very good condition, there's some peeling at the top of the spine overlapping the front cover, there's a bit missing from the top right corner, there are the remains of a used book store sticker on the back. 349 Numbered Pages. Single Price: $9.99 Child of Fortune by Norman Spinrad 1985 Bantam 1st Edition Hardcover This psychedelic science fiction romp is in excellent condition, though the dust jacket isn't doing so well, and has a rip along the spine. Otherwise the book is pristine. This is a classic work that went a little under the radar, and perhaps shouldn't; read it and see for yourself. At any rate it's quite collectible, especially in a first edition. The language is a challenge; think of it as an epic poem from the classic world presented to the modern one limned in mad psychedelic science fiction. Single Price: $49.99 Directive 51, John Barnes 1st Mass Market Paperback Book, 1st MMPB printing This novel is in excellent condition, and is a first Mass Market PaperBack Edition. This is also a first-printing of that first MMPBE. This book is in essentially perfect shape, and likely has not been read. It has 497 pages. Single Price: $29.99 Other Worlds, Other Gods, Edited by Mayo Mohs, 1974, Vintage Sci-Fi Paperback Other Worlds, Other Gods is a short story collection edited by Mayo Mohs. This book is full of interesting takes on science fiction and spirituality. It's mostly collectible for its cover. This edition has a fine cover, a fine spine, all the pages sit firmly in the binding and are unmarked. However, there is a square box that seems to indicate some sort of sticker damage on the back. Collectible and displayable as this is, it is priced to sell for this reason. See pictures for details. This is the first printing of the Avon edition of the book in softcover, making it a 2/1. 223 Numbered Pages. Single Price: $17.99 Polity Agent, Neal Asher, The 4th Cormac Novel, Like New, 2019 Ed/1st CA print. Except for a line made by a sharpie about the thickness of 1/8th inch, and about 3/4ths of an inch long on the bottom pages of this papberback, the book is perfect and appears as though it were recently plucked from the shelves of a bookstore. It is the first printing of this particular edition, though the copyright is 2006, and this edition was published in 2019, so it is not the true first edition of the book. It is, however, the first Canadian print-run of this paperback in this edition. Technology, action, guns, explosions; this book has it all. 464 numbered pages. Single Price: $24.95 Star Rigger's Way, Jeffrey A. Carver, 1st SC Ed., 1st Print, Vintage Paperback Jeffrey A. Carver is a giant in the field of science fiction, and his works are venerated for a reason. The man is an excellent writer, and his stories carry you along. Star Rigger's Way is no different. This book is in very good condition, though there is some damage on the top left of the cover, and some creasing. The pages are limned in blue. This is a classic, vintage paperback with a collectible cover. 237 Numbered Pages. Single Price: $9.99 Sci-Fi/Fantasy The Abductors: Conspiracy, Frakes, Jonathan, 1st Ed./ 1st Print This first printing, first edition of "The Abductors: Conspiracy" by Jonathan Frakes is in like-new condition. The only indication it has been owned are the words "Johnson Family Library" written on the inside front cover under where the dust jacket folds in. Otherwise, this book could have come off the shelves of a Barnes and Noble. 252 Numbered Pages. Single Price: $25.55 The Food of the Gods, HG Wells, 1967, Vintage Paperback, Very Good Condition H.G. Wells' work is more important than ever given his Fabian background. He's also a great writer. H.G. Wells' The Food of the Gods is a relatively unknown entry into his body of work. This copy has some mild creasing on the cover, some scuffing consistent with average wear over 50+ years, and it is seriously scuffed around the barcode on the back; poor sticker removal appears to be the culprit. Otherwise this is a very collectible book, and the cover is quite rare. The book has an inscription indicating its previous owner. This book was once part of a public school's collection, but has come through the debacle relatively undamaged. The pages sit firmly in the binding, none are loose, and the book's spine is unbroken. It might have only been read once, or even only a handful of times. This is the eleventh printing of the Berkeley Highland edition of the book in softcover. 254 Numbered Pages. Single Price: $19.99 The Man Who Folded Himself by David Gerrold (1973 Vintage Sci-Fi Hardcover) David Gerrold's "The Man Who Folded Himself" is considered by many to be the authoritative time travel yarn. You can see for yourself if you like with this first edition book club copy. Yes, it is the book club edition, and it is the first edition; just not the widely released iteration of that edition. Accordingly, it is priced as a book club edition rather than a true 1/1, which would double the asking price. However, all is negotiable, and I'm open to offers. In terms of condition, the book itself is in great shape and essentially flawless, it is bound in black leather or faux leather. The dust jacket is in good to fair shape. It only has limited cosmetic wear along the edges, but there are some sunspots and fading which compound its minor flaws, see pictures for details. For the collector of time travel stories, David Gerrold as an author, or authors who once wrote for Star Trek (Gerrold submitted two stories for its animated iteration), this is certainly a considerable volume. Single Price: $49.99 The Ophiuchi Hotline by John Varley Book Club Edition, 1st ed., USA, 2205 John Varley's "Ophiuchi" series is well-regarded in a classical sense across a diversity of science fiction literary circles. It is early science fiction, and brought a very modern perspective to cutting edge ideas at the time. This particular edition is a book club print, as advertised by the dust jacket. The lack of number line seems to confirm the dust jacket goes with the book itself; though it's notable this edition has a red binding, not a black binding as is traditionally the case with book club editions. It is the first edition of the book, but likely in a book club presentation, as such prints are limited, and so don't require a number line generally. This is a fine addition to any science fiction collector's library, and does feature the classic dust jacket and its artwork. Said dust jacket exhibits the most wear, but it is primarily cosmetic. Single Price: $24.99 The Prometheus Crisis, Thomas Scortia, Frank Robinson 1975 Thriller, Vintage BCE The Prometheus Crisis is about a nuclear power plant where the worst occurs. This book is dedicated to Robert A. Heinlein by the authors. This copy is a book club edition in very good shape with a dust jacket that exhibits a notable rip in the spine. It is pulled from the private library of Ginnie Strong, so it is ex libris, but it is not from a public library. An excellent find. 275 numbered pages.
