Description: You are viewing a surplus USGI Army Corps of Engineers Mine Detector Set Mine (C). AKA Portable Detector for AP-AT Mines. These were made in Minneapolis, Minnesota by the Microtone Company on Contract #DA-30-075-3036 This one comes with the following items: * transit case * 4) spare tubes * belt pouch w/spare cables * paperwork folder w/packing list, repair & test paperwork * electrical schematic of the mine detector The repair / test paperwork refers to the detector as Detecting Set (C) Polly Smith. The unit is in good shape and complete. There is no battery so it could not be tested. It was last tested on July 2nd, 1957 and was probably not issued after that. Many of these were sold as surplus in the 1970s after long term storage by the Army. Some of the parts are dated October 1954 so that is the most likely manufacturing date. This is a heavy set and would be best picked up by a collector within a few hours of me, which is about 20 minutes from Dayton, Ohio. Shipping will be expensive due to the size and weight of the unit.
