Introduced in 1943, the M3 was used extensively by paratroopers and tank crews. It was later replaced by the M7 holster but some soldiers preferred the simpler M3. The M3 would continue to be worn through to the Vietnam War. The large cross-strap would go over the head and left arm, and the small strap would secure the holster to a belt.
