USGI M1 Carbine Operating Slide in Cosmoline Type VI 6 Marked Government Issue

Description: This is a NEW USGI “Type VI” operating slide for an M1 carbine. This slide is in heavy Cosmoline from long-term government storage. The photos are of one of the slides offered in this listing. The one you will receive will be similar to the one in the photos. The slides we have checked have been marked “SG” (for Saginaw production) with the 7161843 part number, but we have not unwrapped each one to see if there are any other manufacturers’ markings; you may receive one wrapped in the fabric and Cosmoline (as shown in our photos) or one that is not wrapped in fabric, but just covered in Cosmoline. Please let use know if you would like us to unwrap it before shipping to verify if it is Saginaw production, or some other manufacturer. This listing is for a “Type 6” slide; the last variation of the M1 Carbine operating-slide the government authorized. The government required that all changes made to parts during the production of M1 Carbines be “backward compatible,” so even though this is the last variation of the slide that was used on the last production of M1 Carbines under government contract, this slide will work on earlier variations of the M1 Carbine (though it may not be “correct” from a collector’s viewpoint, if one was looking to make a Carbine “original” to how it was when it was first produced during earlier WWII production).
