Description: This lovely genuine cameo made from a King Helmet Conch shell is from my personal collection of jewelry. It is an eState Piece, but I bought it a long time ago. It can be worn as either a pin, or as a pendant on a chain. I am including a gorgeous sterling silver chain that has a gold covering on it so that is vermeil and it is made in Italy and it goes wonderfully with this, so you can wear it either way! The chain obviously is not original to the brooch. So the cameo is marked on the inside rim on the gold Van Dell and GF for gold filled is also marked 1/20 but, it does not designate whether it is 12 or 14 karat gold filled. It is also inscribed in script, which is not really legible. I don’t know what it is/it kind of looks like, they may have actually been a serial number. Somebody put some thing in there maybe to identify it. I took pictures of the inside rim. You can kind of make things out. This is an old brooch but the condition is still very good. The pin back is nice and straight and the clasp works well and is tight, the little ring for the pendant can be folded over if you’re wearing it as a pin!please view all the pictures and please ask all of your questions before buying this lovely antique or vintage piece. Oh, and just out of curiosity, Van Dell was formed in 1939 in Providence Rhode Island. They were an extremely reputable company that made fine jewelry! Excellent name excellent reputation!
