Description: For your consideration is this very nice specimen of native copper crystals from the Gull Rock locality (also known as the Grand Marais Fissure) outside of Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw County, Michigan USA. This native copper vein, which extends out to a small rocky island in Lake Superior called Gull Rock, has been mined intermittently by various people over the years, most notably by U.P. collector and mineral dealer Don Pearce in the late 1970's and early 1980's. This fine copper specimen dates from this period, and features well-developed spinel-twinned "herringbone" plates of copper crystals with an attractive natural cuprite and tenorite patina. A nice example of an important Michigan copper find, collected underwater with scuba gear in Lake Superior over 40 years ago! Classic! Specimen Dimensions: 2.2 x 2.4 x 2.0 cm. Weight: N/A
