Description: A Very Rare and Early T. Harris & Son, London Single Draw Tapered Wood Barrel Spyglass in superb condition. Certainly for the advanced collector. Marked on the draw tube, “T. Harris & Son / London”. A very well known maker of the period establishing his business in the late 1700’s and adding his son to the business in 1806. I would date this piece in the Georgian period, before Queen Victoria and somewhere between 1806 and 1820. Not refinished or altered. The last picture shows an nearly identical one selling at auction for over $1100.00. Everything tight and functioning. Draw tube and sliding eye cover is complete, tight and works well. Optics are perfect with no cracks in any lenses. Focuses perfectly and at great distances. Minor scuffs to the original finish from age and handling, but no dents or missing parts. Certainly nothing that affects the functioning. A nice big 25.5” closed and 32” fully extended. This is a beautiful piece with a wonderful patina and probably a lot of history. I like that it hasn’t been refinished or polished. Buyer pays $25.00 mailing costs (Sorry, it’s large and heavy) to anywhere in the US 50 states. No international shipping on this item. Payment must be received within 7 days or I reserve the right to relist the item. I’m happy to answer any questions, but please ask them before the end of bidding as all sales are final. Thanks for looking.
