Description: Up for sale is a VERY SCARCE copy of "HUNTING SONGS, BALLADS, ETC." by R.E.E.W - Esq. Printed for J. Seacome, Bridge-St., Row; and Baldwin and Cradock, Paternoster Row., London. MDCCCXXXIV = 1834 - With Illustrations - 13 plates in total - the Frontpiece plate is hand-colored. The earliest collection of songs by Egerton-Warburton. Rowland Eyles Egerton-Warburton (14 September 1804 - 6 December 1891). Titles of the songs include "THE OLD BROWN FOREST" and "THE LITTLE RED ROVER". His nine-stanza poem "Quasitum meritis" is considered to be his best work. This book is in Fair- Condition - in early, possibly leather, binding. The exterior boards have heavy wear, some water damage/spotting, scratches, stains and scuffing. The front board and the spine are loose. The front board has some wrinkingling and the title is faded and hard to see. The boards are discolored. Scuffing & fraying at the top and bottom of the spine. Some cracking along the joints. Scuffing along all the edges and the corners are bumped. Internally, there is wear, foxing, and browning to the pages. The first seven pages (through the Title page) are seperated from the book. There is a signature and an inscription by a previous owner on the Title Page. Other writing on the front end pages. Some nicks/chips on the pages and some creased corners.
