The hand painted shade is truly stunning and in great shape. It has a few light spots on shade, but the floral colors are just terrific. The prism crystals add some pop as well, but its lovely with or without them. We did not light the lamp as no fuel was in the font when we acquired from a collector's estate. The font is lovely as well but was missing a cap on fuel spout and had some dings to the spout rim. Replacement caps are easy to find for a few dollars. The burner is an old Eagle brand, nothing fancy or rare but it does have a wick, you may even choose to replace or to electrify the lamp as many do. The photos with lamp lighted are from a light bulb we placed on top of the font just to give an idea of what it may look like when lit. Of course, lighting will vary depending on the source of lighting you choose. The pull down mechanism has a patent date of 1893 and works really well. On the top metal piece under the chain pull mechanism, there are a few of the decorative metal tabs on the rim that are missing, but they do not effect the overall appeal of the piece very much and have no effect on it's operation, but we wanted to note it and you can see it in photo gallery as well. There was no chimney with the item when we acquired it, but those are very easy to find online or a any hardware store, even second hand shops carry them. Some people will place metal shade toppers on these as well and they do add additional charm, but this one looks great just as it is. This lamp will be shipped with each part heavily wrapped and padded individually. We will remove crystals and wrap them individually as well as the font. The painted shade will take extra care and will be equally safely packed for shipping. We sell lots of delicate lighting, so you have no worries. We do this often. Signature confirmation will be required on delivery (but we do not charge extra) unless you request otherwise, so please plan accordingly. Items shipped without signature required are insured for damage, but not for loss after delivery, so if an item is taken from a porch or other non secure location, insurance will not cover it. But we like to ask as some people are not available during daytime deliveries. We will ship as you desire, but want you to know the details. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
