Description: Vintage 1961 Picture Book Toy Plush Teddy Bear with a Rubber Crying / Sad Face. A classic mid-century stuffed animal collectible. USED -- in very good condition. Photos are of the exact item you will receive. From a clean, smoke-free home. Teddy Bear is well stuffed and stands about 15-inches tall. Brown plush with a lighter beige belly, bottom, and inside ears. Stitching is still strong and tight! No rips, tears, or repairs. The fur is matted from use. No tag. The neck is saggy and, as a result, the head droops if not supported. Overall, teddy measures 15" H x 13-1/2 L x 6" W. Sewn-in hand painted rubber face is clean and colorful. Forever fixed in an adorable pouty-face pose with a tear dripping down his left cheek. Face measures 5-1/4" H x 4-3/4" L. Bottom of face (throat area) is stamped with "PICTURE BOOK TOY © 1961" though only "cture book toy" is visable. Resembles Rushton and Knickerbocker bears from the same era. Rushton animals tend to have rather scary faces; this bear's face is charming. Knickerbocker rubber face bears had rubber ears and they are often found now with breakage. This Picture Book Toy bear is an awesome example of the best of that era. A terrific bear for a baby boomer or collector. Will box and package carefully for shipment. Ships within USA ONLY.
