Description: Here is my 1963 Martin D-18 guitar. When I bought it at Stuyvesant Music in NY in 1976- I was told I was the second owner. 14 frets to the body (20 total)- some play wear- but with good fret life left. Honduran mahogany back & sides; Rosewood bridge & fretboard. It’s bound with faux-tortoise celluloid-& is super lightweight & resonant . Plays beautifully with low action & no buzz or dead frets. All original- except tuning machines (Klusons replaced with Schallers in 1980). Still has an Barcus -Berry pickup mounted under the bridge (with endpin pick up)- but I no longer have the BB pre-amp. Why buy a Martin D-18 “ Street Legend” guitar when you can own a played-in vintage beauty with a tone you just can’t get from a new reliced/distressed model? Certainly more of a player’s guitar than a showpiece- but you’ll be blown away by the comfy neck and welcoming sound. This instrument has been my companion for nearly 50 years- time to offer her up to someone who can coax new tunes from her !
