Description: ***********Although the manual wind movement runs strong it gains about 3 minutes by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period. Given that this watch is more than 50 years old and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This vintage 1969 Bulova Oceanographer, which came from the estate of its original owner, has an originally white "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that has aged naturally to an almond hue. It is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows some edge wear and lume plot loss. In person and on the wrist this edge wear and lume plot loss is nearly visually imperceptible. The remaining lume, which emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATER RESISTANT STAINLESS STEEL CASE M9 SHOCK RESISTANT ANTI-MAGNETIC" with "BULOVA" and "G287968" stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale I'm unable to access the movement on this watch. The manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function runs strong, albeit a bit fast, and the date wheel rolls over at approximately 12 am. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 22 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded "BULOVA" signed non-screwdown crown 57 full revolutions the movement gained about 3 minutes by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period. The crown winds smoothly. Given that this watch is more than 50 years old and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 34 mm excluding the crown, approximately 36.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 6.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 8.5 mm. Given the vintage nature of this watch and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 13 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
