Description: Offered is a vintage (1955-1963) Bausch & Lomb BALVAR 8 Variable Rifle Scope with a rather fine TAPERED CROSSHAIR RETICLE. The scope is in good condition but has the following ISSUES: There are some ring marrs from the mounts that were installed previously. They do marr the finish in a few locations and would probably be covered by the new mounts. The front lens shows some very fine rubbing marrs. You have to look at it pretty closely to see them. They are not serious and do not affect the brightness and could probably be polished out. The scope has real glass lenses, not plastic. If you own a Pre-'64 Winchester and wish it to have a period correct scope, this could be just what you may be looking for. EBAY OFFERS SEVERAL B&L ADJUSTABLE MOUNTING SETS FOR THIS SCOPE. The scope adjusts from 2.5 up to 8 power and shows a very good image. From Stroebel's excellent text, PLEASE SEE PHOTO #1 for all specs. This is a very high quality (AMERICAN PRODUCED) scope with REAL GLASS LENSES. It is over 60 years old and still in pretty good condition. The focusing and the eye adjustments are as tight as when the scope was produced.
