Vintage Bossons England Chalkware Head - Serbian - 1967

Description: Vintage Bossons England Chalkware Head - Serbian - 1967 - Unpainted **READ** This is a vintage chalkware head wall hang sculture. It measures approximately 5.5" in height, 3" in width and 2" deep. There is one minor chip on the bottom lip. It is in overall good condition. ***This piece is not marked. However, it is clearly the "Serbian" made by Bossons from 1967 to 1969. I acquired this piece with a large collection of similar sculptures, mostly Bossons. From my research, these types of sculptures were generally not sold unpainted. It has been reported that some of these types of items were given to the painters in the factory when they were experimental & not put into production. Therefore, it may also be the case that they were given to the painters or other employees if they were not deemed fit to be painted and sold due to imperfections which did not meet standards. It has also been reported that forgeries of such items were also produced, although that is less likely with this particular piece, as it is not among the rare Bossons figures. While it appears to be nicely detailed, it is still possible that it is a forgery. However, my theory for this piece is that it was deemed to have imperfections, (such as the chip on the bottom lip noted above), which took it out of the production line to be completed and was given to an employee rather than being destroyed. Again, this is just a theory, and I encourage you do your own research. This would be a neat addition to your collection, as an unpainted version would certainly be unique. Please review all photos.
