The light washes out the brass and the light makes the bottom half of the Kettle look like it is whitish, it is not, all brass looking. These belonged to my Mom and have been in a non-smoking pet free home. They are both in very good condition. Both made of brass. The kettle and stand do not really have finish wear, just need to be cleaned up with brass cleaner to bring back to life. Please contact me with any questions before you purchase.
