Guanyin is the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. She was first given the appellation of "Goddess of Mercy" or the Mercy Goddess by Jesuit missionaries in China. The Chinese name Guanyin is short for Guanshiyin, which means "[The One Who] Perceives the Sounds of the World." This beautiful and tall statie is finely crafted and detailed of Blanc de Chine porcelain. The lovely figure features delicate and intricate details. The Guanyin has a serene face and her hair is adorned with jewels. She carries a large lotus flower and a small vase. Her robe is also adorned with jewels and she stands atop a lotus flower-covered base, with cascading waves and a dragon at her feet. The figure presents beautifully and is in very good condition, with minimal display wear and patina commensurate age.
