Vintage Chronosport Sea Quartz 1000 Day-Date Diver w/Monnin All SS Case,Orig Box

Description: This vintage Chronosport Sea Quartz 1000 day-date diver has a matte black "T - SWISS MADE - T" signed dial that is in pristine condition with the exception of some visually imperceptible wear at the base of the handset. The lume, which emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The bezel, which shows wear upon close inspection and ratchets counterclockwise, presents beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE 30 ATM / 1000 FEET" with "3206" followed by "186 067" stamped towards the bottom center. The inside of the case back is stamped "BREVET + 503305" followed by "M.R.P. SA,""SWITZERLAND,""Chronosport, Inc.,""SWISS" and "1 . 005 . 0 . 0 . 04." The crystal shows some blemishing which in my humble opinion is not nearly as pronounced in person.The 7 jewels unadjusted Swiss "CHRONOSPORT" stamped ETA 555.122 quartz controlled hacking movement with quickset day and date functions runs strong and keeps accurate time with both the day and date wheels rolling over as they should. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling out the crown to the first position and turning it clockwise. The quickset day function works in the precisely the same manner with the exception of the crown being turned counterclockwise. The screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should. Although a new battery was installed in September 2021 given that the movement shows no signs of ever having been serviced (there are no watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back) a complete overhaul is recommended. This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. The crystal adds no measurable thickness. This watch comes on a lightly used black NATO strap and with its original Chronosport Sea Quartz box that is in good condition. Although the movement runs strong with all functions working as they should there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
