VINTAGE CONN SILVER ALTO SAXOPHONE - EARLY NEW WONDER SERIES 1 PRE-CHU BERRY

Conn Ltd. alto saxophone. The serial number is 46,xxx, which indicates a c.1918 production date. This is an early New Wonder (series 1) model, also sometimes known as a 'pre-Chu Berry'. Since this is a very early NW1, it does not have a micro-tuner on the neck or rolled tone holes. It has the older style dual pad cup "G" key. It does have a front "F" button, G# trill key, and forked Eb mechanism.This horn is being sold as is. It is not currently in playing condition. The immediate reason for it not being playable is that the neck cork is shredded off. It probably would be somewhat playable (or at least close to playable) if you put a new neck cork on, however the pads are quite old, so an overhaul is highly recommended for optimum playing condition. The good news is that it is in excellent physical condition. Please read on for details, check out the pictures, and if in doubt as questions! This sax is in very good physical condition. The body is straight, and the neck has not been pulled down. There are no significant dents or dings. To be honest, I don't even see any pings or nicks, but there might be something super tiny I'm missing. The bow guard has not been pushed in. The rim of the bell has not been bent down. There are no pushed in posts or key-guard feet. The key-guards aren't bent. I don't see any resoldered joints. The keys are all moving freely, and the rollers are all turning. The silver plate finish is heavily tarnished, but almost fully intact. I only see a tiny bit of brass peeking through at a few high contact points. It has old, but not original, Conn Reso-pads. A leak light inspection reveals a number of leaks, although they are sealing better than I would have expected. Nevertheless, they are old and worn, so should be replaced, along with corks and felts. This sax comes in its original hard, wood shell case. The case is in very good condition considering its age. It is solid and functional, with light wear and tear. The inside is clean and odor free. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included, however I will find an end plug of some sort to include before it ships. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
