Description: ***********The hacking electronic movement keeps time to within specs (+- 30 seconds per day). Although the quickset day function tends to work flawlessly occasionally the day wheel will get stuck when using the quickset feature. When this happens manually rolling over a new day and date tends to reset the day wheel, allowing the quickset day feature to resume working without issue. Although a new battery was installed in July 2024 given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Hamilton Electronic day-date, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a near pristine "T SWISS T" signed dial and the lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "HAMILTON" and "702009 - 3" with "STAINLESS STEEL - WATERRESISTANT" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "HAMILTON" followed by "WATCH Co SWISS." The crystal shows light scratching. The 7 jewels unadjusted Swiss "HAMILTON WATCH Co. 702" stamped electronic movement with hack feature and quickset day and date functions keeps time to within specs (+- 30 seconds per day) and both the day and date wheels roll over automatically as they should. The movement had a new battery installed in July 2024. The quickset day and date functions tend to work flawlessly by pulling the crown out to the first position and then turning the crown clockwise to roll over a new day and date in unison. To quickset the date without changing the day simply turn the crown counterclockwise until the desired date has been reached. When using the quickset day feature occasionally the day wheel gets stuck. When this happens manually rolling over a new day and date tends to resolve the issue, allowing the quickset day feature to resume working as intended. The hack feature works without issue, stopping the seconds hand when the signed crown is pulled out to the second and final (the time setting) position. When the crown is pushed back in the seconds hand resumes running. Given the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. This watch comes on its original bracelet with Hamilton signed buckle and "JAPAN,""BEAR" and "STAINLESS STEEL" stamped clasp. Set on the loosest clasp setting this bracelet, which shows wear and minor stretch, is a bit loose on my approximate 6.5 inch wrist. I'd guesstimate that it'll fit up to an approximate 6.75 inch wrist. Although the movement is currently running strong and keeping time to within specs a service is likely long overdue and recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
