Description: Ludwig Aschoff was a German physician and pathologist and is actually considered to be one of the most influential pathologists of the early 20th century. He was born in 1866 and died in 1942. I'm guessing this picture was probably shot sometime in the 1930s as he seems quite aged in this photo. I believe this was framed at The Higbee Co. department store in Cleveland, Ohio which was founded in 1860 and survived all the way to 1992 when it was rebranded as Dillard's. The paper I've photographed was actually in the small envelop on the back of the picture and talks about Gilbert Dalldorf, M.D. who in his early years had volunteered under Aschoff at the University of Freiburg. There's a lot of history and cross currents in this piece but Dr. Ludwig Aschoff is definitely the star of the show. Thanks for looking.
