Description: VINTAGE Set of 12 Lady Clare Bayeux Tapestry Placemats, Original Box & Paperwork This is an AMAZING VINTAGE set of 12 Lady Clare hard felt-backed placemats from the 1960s. These placemats were sold exclusively at Neiman Marcus in the 1960s. They have images from the Bayeux Tapestry that depicts the battle of Hastings, and was probably created in the year 1077. The tapestry hangs in a cathedral in Bayeux, France. The placemats have 7 different scenes from the tapestries on them. The scenes are centered on the placemat within a brown frame with gold edges. The bakcs are covered with green felt so they will not scratch any surface. Under the felt is masonite. They are 14 inches long and 10 inches wide. These placemats come with the original paperwork explaining the history of the Bayeux tapestry and are in their original box with the Nieman Marcus paper and sticker. They are AMAZING! They are in VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION! There are no major scratches or chipping or cracking to the masonite. There are a few stains on some of the felt backs and a couple of areas where the felt has been slightly worn (please see the last photos).
