Description: This is a full-sized, paper sewing pattern for a 1950s long-line bra in two versions. The pattern can be made in long or shorter versions and features great support and full coverage. Rather have a PDF pattern? Find that on our website. Size: 32 - 34 - 36 - 38 - 40 - 42 - 44 - 46 - 48 inch bust. All sizes are included. Sewing patterns for bras in the 1940s and 1950s didn't gauge size by cup size. They instead used the full over bust measurement like one does with blouses. The closure calls for 4" or 6" wide elastic, though we would recommend using a plush-backed purchased bra back closure or hook and eye tape for more comfort/ adjustability. F abric suggestions: Light to medium weight woven (non-stretch) fabric for the outer. I recommend soft cotton or lawn, satin, silk or rayon crepe, or even charmeuse. 1/2 yard of lining fabric (if you choose to line, that is.) I recommend lightweight woven (non-stretch) cotton lawn but the general rule of thumb is, if you don't want it touching your girls, don't line a bra with it. The paper version of this pattern will require you to tape a couple of pages together. You might also be interested in our book Underwear and Lingerie .
