Description: Vintage spring-loaded, T-handle hood latches in good condition. These steel latches were purchased from the liquidation of a machine shop that used to manufacture industrial air compressors. I have a feeling that these latches were for securing a hood or cowl on the compressor. These are similar to the type of closures that are often seen on hoods for wood chippers, tractors, automobiles, etc. Sometimes they are made of rubber. These latches do not include a receiver or catch for the hooked part of handle to engage with. An inventive person could surely fabricate a catch to receive the hooked part of latch. Latch features a mounting plate with two holes 1.5" on center. The handle pulls out a maximum of 1.25" on the spring-loaded shaft. T-handles turn a full 360 deg on shaft. Latches appear to be made of stamped steel. I can't tell if they're new/old stock or used. The glossy black paint finish looks "new" (by new, I mean new in 1960). Unfortunately, the enamel easily flakes off and doesn't look like it is well bonded to the steel. These handles were loose in a box when I bought them. The paint on latches will likely continue to flake, but I fully guarantee them to function properly. I have roughly 150 of these, so if you'd like more than a dozen or so, I'd be happy to provide a bulk discount. Please contact me if you'd like a bulk amount.
