Description: Vintage Zeiss 8 x 50 Binoculars, with case, in the original box. The model is Porro I; serial number is #579385. Originally purchased November 3, 1961, for $297.54. This was an expensive, premium item! Binoculars are lightly used; lenses are clear, no scratches or fog or mold. Flaws: the rubber eye cups are hardened. They might possibly be revived by soaking in warm water, but that's for the next owner to tackle. The case strap is very delicate and one end has broken. At some time the owner's name was scratched onto a small place on the shoulder of the binoculars, this has been smoothed off and touched up with black lacquer. See the pictures. The cardboard box has some worn spots. Otherwise these binoculars are in very good condition.
