Description: I love to research all the pieces I sell, but I couldn't find anything about this piece at all. I tried to identify the clothing, and came up with the word "Oblat", which I wasn't able to identify. The piece is signed, P. Cruz, which may be the name of the person depicted, OR the artist! I wasn't able to find anything about the name. I believe it to be from the 1960's, when chalkware was really popular, and because he came with some 1960's wall crosses. He is an enigma, and ... fairly creepy. He is well painted, and nicely done, with just a few chips called "fleabites" because they are very tiny, but pretty numerous. He displays well. He is a type that I love - the creepy side of religious pieces! He is small, about 4 1/2" tall.
