Description: This is a magnificent and very rare vintage set of hand painted toy soldiers representing the American, British, and Hessian forces at the historic Battle of Princeton. Please note this is only part of the set, there was only 219 sets made. Made by the British company Blenheim for the Princeton Battlefield Area Preservation Society in 1976 to commemorate the battle's bicentennial. Action in Princeton began on January 3, 1977 following Washington's legendary crossing of the Delaware on Christmas day and victory at Trenton. The foot soldiers about 2.5" high (not counting the bayonet). Each is marked Blenheim and PBAPS for the Princeton Battlefield Area Preservation Society. The pieces are all in excellent condition save for some minor bending of the delicate bayonets, which can be straightened with care. A rare opportunity to own an historic piece of Princeton and American history. (FYI a captured Princeton student who escaped on December 30 provided the Americans the key Eastern attack intelligence, and Princeton' s iconic Nassau Hall still shows the damage from a cannon ball. The set does not include the original box nor the accompanying detailed description of the figures.
