Description: This is an exceptional and somewhat unusual Claro blank, it is dense, not light and coarse like many Claro blanks. This blank was cut in northern California over 40 years ago, it is dry, straight, stable, ready to carve. It has groups of very tight, dense pin knots, very much like a birdseye pattern. It also has a great fiddleback the length of the blank - it doesn't all show in the pics , but it's there and will be striking in the finished stock. The blank is large, with plenty of room to shift a pattern around for the best layout, It is approx. 36" long, 7" deep at the butt , tapering to 3 3/8".
