Description: FOX, Wells B. What I Remember of the Great Rebellion. Lansing: Darius D. Thorp, 1892. First Edition. Octavo; 278p. 19 plates. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering. Covers bumped and scuffed along edges and corners with chipping at head of spine. Large dampstain to back board, with general smudging/scuffing to front and back. Spine cocked. Boards open shakily but are still holding by center stitches. Previous owner's name on front pastedown with a few notes on front free endpaper. Opens easily between gatherings, laying flat at a few, with one plate beginning to become untucked from gutter at bottom. Page binding feels a bit loose, but is still holding. Dampstain did not stain any terminal pages, but the last dozen or so do show some rippling. A few marginal pencil checks in the appendix, else pages unmarked. Not an ex-library copy. Wells, a surgeon with the Eighth Michigan Infantry and Field Hospital Surgeon-in-Chief with the First Division, Ninth Army Corps, compiled a surgical record of all Michigan Regiments in the Ninth Army Corps, including names, regiments, nature of wounds, and other information, along with other personal recollections of various battles. A rough but readable copy of a somewhat scarce volume. [AB-501]
