Description: Excellent 19th century illustration art by Charles H. Johnson. This two-page spread was rescued from a badly aged and damaged issue of the original LIFE magazine, dated February 25, 1892. This page has several small tears and wrinkles. Paper has yellowed significantly and is very brittle. Picture caption says: WHAT LOVE AND A WOMAN CAN MAKE OF A MAN. Please review the attached photos to get clear determination of the condition of these pages. Opposite sides of this 2-page drawing is page 119 titled "Cupid's Auction" with excellent illustration work also. Page 122 has several small text articles, as well as two cartoons. Overall size of the 2-page drawing is 10 1/2" x 16 1/4". I'll place the pages inside a plastic sleeve, and add a piece of white foam board for protection while mailing by USPS First Class in a bubble envelope. Following is a little info on this illustrator: (1867 - 1896) Charles Howard Johnson was an American illustrator and newspaper artist, best known for his sparse illustrations of the 1890 U.S. edition of The Princess by the English poet Alfred Lord Tennyson. Little is known of Johnson's life. He was reportedly born in Kansas City, and came to New York City in about 1889 after studying art for a year in Cincinnati, Ohio. He worked for a number of magazines including Life, Truth, Munsey's Magazine, and on some of the daily newspapers. He illustrated more than ten books.
